Integrated Trauma and Eating Disorder Treatment

For many people, eating disorders do not exist in isolation. Experiences of trauma, shame, attachment difficulties, or chronic stress often underpin struggles with food, exercise, and body image.

Counselling and Therapy session

At Headway Psychology, we specialise in integrated trauma and eating disorder treatment so that you can get simultaneous support for both trauma and eating issues with the same clinician, rather than having to juggle treatment with 2 different therapists or attempt to work on one issue at a time.

Our clinicians offer evidence-based treatment for eating disorders, while concurrently addressing trauma through evidence-based trauma modalities such as EMDR, CPT, Schema Therapy, somatic therapies, and trauma-focused CBT.

Rather than apply these evidence-based approaches in a rigid or manualised way, we will work with you to decide which therapies may be best for you, so your treatment is a bespoke approach developed specifically for you as an individual.

By approaching both trauma and eating disorder symptoms holistically, we support deeper, longer-lasting healing. This dual focus allows us to work with complex presentations and support clients experiencing co-existing conditions such as PTSD and dissociation.

Our integrated trauma and eating disorder treatment is delivered by experienced and compassionate trauma and eating disorder trained therapists. This includes our dietitian and exercise physiologist, who may also be part of your treatment team.

If you’re seeking trauma-informed eating disorder therapy in Perth, our integrated approach may be the right fit.
