Hi! Iām Sarah and I am an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who is passionate about supporting people to develop safe and healthful relationships with exercise. I have a special interest in working with clients to support their mental health, and clients who are recovering from an eating disorder because of the relationship with dysfunctional exercise.
When working with clients I adopt a holistic, person-centred and trauma informed approach to ensure clients feel safe, empowered and are provided with choice regarding their participation in exercise.
Sessions will often involve breathwork, somatic movement, Pilates and exercises that incorporate the breath, mind, and the body, and aerobic exercise with the aim of regulating the nervous system and reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
When working with people recovering from an eating disorder, I work within a multidisciplinary team to address exercise participation throughout all stages of eating disorder treatment, adopting a step-up/step-down approach tailored according to the individual’s current physical and psychological wellbeing. The aim of this is to assist people towards exercise that is intuitive, holistic and enjoyable.
Whilst I have a special interest in supporting people with their mental wellbeing, I welcome anyone who is looking for assistance with their movement and exercise.
At Headway I deliver exercise services as part of our holistic program supporting people who have experienced a psychological injury at work, as part of the Employee Wellbeing Service, people who have been referred as part of their Chronic Disease Management Plan and private clients.
I am a member of Dietitians Australia (DA), the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED).
